Bio

F. Ron Newbury ("Ron"), a native of Whitefish, Montana, has enjoyed diverse careers in law, building industry management, and as a loan officer and regulatory compliance officer at one of the largest financial institutions in Montana. In addition, he has extensive experience in both domestic and international government relations in Washington, D.C. and in Montana. After receiving political clearance for political appointments in the Bush Administration, and being selected for the Legislative Studies Institute, Ron moved to Washington, D.C. for 5 years, working for U.S. Senator Conrad Burns as a Special Assistant, and with the bipartisan government relations division of a national law firm. Ron returned to Montana in late 1995 to complete his formal education, and completed his A.A., and A.A.S. in International Business, a B.S. in Business Administration with management and international emphases, and his Juris Doctor at the University of Montana School of Law, graduating in 2000. While attending law school, he served as a Trade Specialist for the World Trade Center of Montana and as liaison to the U.S. Export-Import Bank, and was selected for the Law School's Trial Team and the Jessup International Moot Court Team. Ron was also an Intern in the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Montana. Upon graduating law school in 2000, Ron served as a Law Clerk to Montana Supreme Court Chief Justices J.A. Turnage and Karla Gray, and for Justice Jim Rice and other members of the Court as requested. He has previously been affiliated with law firms in Helena and Missoula, Montana, and formed the Newbury Law Firm, P.C., in 2004. Ron has been active in public service, including his tenure as President of the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce. In this capacity and as Co-Chairman of Whitefish Forward, Ron led the successful effort to secure a new campus for Flathead Valley Community College, and these groups laid the groundwork for many of the improvement projects throughout the community. As President of the Whitefish Soccer Club, Ron coordinated the efforts to construct the Grouse Mountain soccer fields. He was a candidate for State Representative on two occasions, and co-founded Whitefish Magazine, widely distributed to market northwestern Montana. Ron was also selected by the U.S. Olympic Committee to assist in staging the cross-country skiing competitions at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York.
